Samsung’s Gear S Independent Smartwatch is a Reality

This is Critical.

About a month ago, we reported that Samsung is probably working the Gear S, the “Tech Giant’s New Smartwatch”. At the time, it was a rumour, but it is fact. Not only is the Gear S real, but it can function independently from a smartphone.

Samsung Gear S DesignSo what else does it have? Quite a lot. It has a 2-inch Super AMOLED display, and it is curved as well. As for the inside, it operates with the Tizen mobile operating system, like the updated mod that the Gear and Gear 2 received.

As far as the connectivity goes, our source says that it is only 3G. It also has a lot of sensors, which include:

  • Pulse rate reader
  • UV monitor
  • GPS
  • Barometer
  • Compass

Inside is also a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of storage, 412 MB of RAM, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi Connectivity.

There are several other features, and some of them are the usual smartphone lineup including hearing notifications, listen to music through earbuds, as well as voice commands. In case you haven’t guessed yet, the Gear S is also set up for health like other fitness bands. It is also IP67 dust and water resistant, and the battery is good for 11 hours worth of talk time.

So when will it be out? Try sometime in October. And the price? We still don’t have any word.
