I realize that it sounds that I am “out of it”, but I had no idea who “Fossil” was. I did a quick Google Search with the word, and I was surprised that Fossil the watch maker comes up before something like dinosaur fossils or other related subject matter. Talk about good marketing.
If you haven’t heard about Fossil, check out their website and take a look at their watches. The reason that I bring it up is because Intel plans a new line of wearables, and they will be working with the famous watchmakers.
I don’t like to be the one to say “I told you so”, but I predicted a while ago that smartwatches need to get classy. The watch has always been a piece of technology that demands a certain aesthetic, whereas the smartphone has a very minimalist look with one touchscreen and maybe a button.
I’m not certain what kind of look that Intel and Fossil will come up with, but I am confident that smartwatches will look very stylin’ in the near future. Personally, I think Apple could stand to make its gold Watch more vintage, or the Diesel Black Gold for the Samsung Gear S. Whatever the case, we will be certain to report on whatever Intel is doing with their new wearables.
